Occasionally I get emails asking why I don’t ‘come out’ as the author of this blog. I don’t know why anyone gives a shit who I am to be honest; you read it, you have a laugh, you move on. But there is a very good reason why I don’t want to reveal my true identity (in typical superhero fashion) and that’s because religious people are insane. There is evidence of this in the comments of every single post I’ve written about god, mohammed, jesus or anyone else hitching a lift in the greatest clown car ride in the history of the world. I confess I’m simply not willing to let the devotees of The Most Violent Book Ever Written have any inside information lest they smite me.
Christopher Hitchens died today. Now Twitter is going mad with #godisnotgreat and all the religious nut jobs are losing their marbles thinking for some bizarre reason that the apocalypse is upon us and that atheists are trying to ‘bring down Twitter’. Not only do they not actually understand that this hashtag is referring to a book, but they respond with such fervent hatred and violence that jesus would be spinning in his tomb (if he had one). God will be unleashing fire and brimstone in a minute when he signs into Twitter and sees what’s been going on.
So good old Hitch was right: religion really does poison everything. God-botherers truly are dimwits.
Vale Christopher Hitchens, a braver person than I and a whole lot greater than god.
Haha love love it!
Welcome back I’ve missed you.
Thanks McBobbin! I am resolved to make 2012 a big year of blog updates from me! There may even be a book launch
